Materials Management Technician Lead

**Job Summary**
The Materials Management Technician Lead is responsible for overseeing the receipt, storage, distribution, and inventory management of medical supplies, equipment, and materials within the facility. This role provides leadership and operational support to the materials management team, ensuring efficient workflows, supply availability, and compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. The Lead collaborates with department leadership, vendors, and clinical staff to ensure materials are properly stocked, tracked, and distributed to meet patient care needs.
**Essential Functions**
+ Oversees daily materials management operations, ensuring timely receipt, storage, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment.
+ Leads, trains, and mentors materials management staff, ensuring adherence to protocols and productivity expectations.
+ Monitors inventory levels, conducts cycle counts, and ensures proper stock rotation to prevent shortages or overstocking.
+ Assists with ordering, receiving, and inspecting shipments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with purchase orders.
+ Ensures proper storage, labeling, and handling of medical supplies in accordance with regulatory and infection control guidelines.
+ Collaborates with clinical departments to ensure timely and accurate supply delivery based on patient care needs.
+ Identifies and resolves supply chain issues, working with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure product availability.
+ Maintains inventory control systems, updates records, and assists in reconciling discrepancies.
+ Ensures adherence to hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and safety procedures for materials management.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
**Qualifications**
+ H.S. Diploma or GED required
+ Associate Degree or coursework in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
+ 3-6 years of experience in materials management, supply chain, or inventory control required
+ Experience in a healthcare environment with knowledge of medical supplies and hospital logistics preferred
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Strong understanding of inventory management, supply chain logistics, and materials handling procedures.
+ Ability to lead, train, and supervise materials management staff, ensuring operational efficiency.
+ Knowledge of hospital supply chain workflows, medical supply categorization, and procurement best practices.
+ Proficiency in inventory management systems, barcoding, and tracking technologies.
+ Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve supply shortages, order discrepancies, and logistical challenges.
+ Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with clinical and administrative staff.
+ Ability to lift, move, and transport heavy supplies and equipment as required by the role.
**Licenses and Certifications**
+ Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP) preferred
