ResponsibilitiesJob Summary:
The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning/scheduling, storage and movement, and distribution of materials throughout the assigned facility. This role ensures that the right materials are available at the right time, contributing significantly to the efficiency, productivity and overall profitability of the assigned site.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain Management:Develop and maintain production planning and scheduling strategies to balance quality, cost, and supply continuity.Inventory Control:Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent excess or shortages that could impact production schedules and maintain proper inventory accuracy including but not limited to proper FEFO complianceExpiring materials: Properly maintain and manage inventory levels of raw materials with shelf life so we do not incur waste related to expiring materialsLogistics Coordination:Oversee the scheduling and logistics process of incoming and outgoing materials to align with production schedules and meet customer requirements in the most efficient mannerWarehouse optimization:Analyze and implement space and layout changes within the building to drive efficiency and ideal space utilization for the material flowing through the facilityTeam Leadership:Lead and develop the materials management team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages continuous improvement and innovation of processes and KPI reporting.
Other Responsibilities:
Inspecting and verifying incoming and stored materials for quality and quantity.Developing and implementing inventory management systems to reduce wastage and optimize storage.Collaborating with other departments such as procurement, finance, and quality control to ensure material requirements are met.Preparing detailed reports on inventory operations, stock levels, and adjustments for upper management and stakeholder review.Manage expiring raw materials in an effective manner by reducing overall site scrap related to expired materials QualificationsQualifications:
A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.Relevant certifications such as Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) are preferred.Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, with at least 3-4 years in a leadership role.Experience working in a cross-functional leadership role, ideally within a complex, fast-paced industry.Strong negotiation skills and experience managing large contracts
