Job Summary 

The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, procurement, inventory control, and materials management functions to ensure an efficient, cost-effective, and reliable supply chain. This role will focus on optimizing inventory levels, enhancing supplier relationships, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the materials management processes. 

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement materials management strategies to optimize inventory levels while ensuring on-time production and delivery.  Lead and oversee procurement, supplier management, and material planning functions.  Monitor supply chain performance, identify risks, and implement solutions to mitigate supply disruptions.  Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for inventory accuracy, material availability, and supplier performance.  Collaborate cross-functionally with production, engineering, and quality teams to align materials planning with manufacturing schedules.  Drive cost-saving initiatives through supplier negotiations, process improvements, and waste reduction strategies.  Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards in materials handling.  Implement and manage an ERP/MRP system for efficient materials planning and inventory control.  Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing materials management team.  Analyze market trends and supplier capabilities to maintain a resilient and flexible supply chain. 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA preferred.  5+ years of experience in materials management, procurement, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment.  Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and inventory management principles.  Proven ability to lead coach and develop teams in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.  Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and analytical skills.  Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.  Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.  APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) is preferred.
