Explore our benefits (https://grandrapidschair.com/about/careers/) Description JOB SUMMARY The Materials/Scheduling Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of materials management, production scheduling, and inventory control to ensure efficient and timely manufacturing processes. This role is critical in aligning supply chain functions with production demands, optimizing inventory levels, and maintaining a seamless flow of materials to support operational goals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Materials Management: + Develop and implement effective material planning strategies to ensure uninterrupted production. + Maintain optimal inventory levels to minimize holding costs while preventing shortages. + Oversee procurement activities, including vendor selection, price negotiation, and contract management. + Collaborate with suppliers to establish reliable and cost-effective supply chains. 2. Production Scheduling: + Create and maintain detailed production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery deadlines. + Coordinate with production, purchasing, and sales teams to balance capacity and demand. + Monitor and adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changes in orders, materials availability, or production issues. + Implement lean scheduling techniques to minimize lead times and increase flexibility. 3. Inventory Control and Optimization: + Implement inventory control procedures, including cycle counting and inventory accuracy audits. + Utilize ERP systems to track inventory levels, movements, and transactions. + Analyze inventory data to identify slow-moving and obsolete stock, recommending disposition strategies. + Optimize warehouse layout and material handling processes for efficiency. 4. Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication: + Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure material specifications meet product requirements. + Communicate effectively with sales and customer service teams to align delivery timelines and customer expectations. + Act as the primary point of contact for material-related issues, ensuring rapid resolution of any supply chain disruptions. 5. Leadership and Team Development: + Lead and mentor a team of material planners, schedulers, and inventory coordinators. + Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the team. + Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team members' skills and knowledge. Position Requirements + Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field. + Experience: Minimum of 5 years in materials management, production scheduling, or inventory control, preferably in the furniture manufacturing industry. + Experience in leading materials performance improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing principles. + Knowledge of Sales & Operational Planning (S&OP) process and understanding of supply planning functions in S&OP preferred. + Skills: + Strong analytical skills and proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Kinetic, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent). + Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. + Effective communication and negotiation skills. + Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Just-In-Time (JIT) inventory practices. + Certifications: APICS (CPIM or CSCP) certification is a plus. + Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): + Inventory Turnover Ratio and Days of Inventory on Hand. + Schedule Adherence and On-Time Delivery Rate. + Material Availability and Stock-Out Frequency. + Cost Savings from Inventory Optimization and Supplier Negotiations.
