Job Description
Provides supervisory responsibility and leadership for all activities performed in the 24-hour operation of the surgical services materials department, ensuring adequate and efficient usage and levels of supplies and equipment to surgery, post-anesthesia care unit, day surgery, anesthesia, and special procedures.Experience

Oversees daily department activities.Works with billing personnel to maintain charge description master.Quality check’s location uploads.Makes suggestions to Surgical Inventory Supervisor using future forecast software.Conducts orientation of new personnel to department protocol, policies, and procedure.Works with Sterile Processing, Supply Chain, operating room, surgeons, and other departments to assess inventory needs.Reviews schedule for coordination of surgical cases using surgical information systems, makes daily assignments based on employee ability, delegates tasks appropriately, and follows up to ensure completeness.Performs advanced replenishment functions daily.Makes frequent rounds through department.Records performance issues, takes proper corrective actions, and reports to System Manager in timely manner.Provides instruments, equipment, and supplies in direct support of surgical suites and ancillary departments.Assesses staff competency and facilitates additional training in Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Medicaid Management Information System.Ensures materials reports are reviewed and acted upon, ensuring availability of goods and services.Assigns staff in-services with Sterile Processing and operating room as needed on implant systems and instrumentation.Supervises monthly check of expiration dates and shelf labeling and evaluates historical usage data to raise or lower par levels.Coordinates transfer or purchase of supplies urgently from other campuses, hospitals, and vendors.Develops and executes annual physical inventory plan.Reduces variances and prepares assigned service line for daily, monthly, and annual cycle counts.Manages compliance with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta vendor management policies, including vendor access and conflict of interest issues.Maintains employee attendance records, in-services, and meeting documentation.Conducts folder meetings and performs all evaluations in accordance with human resources guidelines.Assists manager with development of departmental goals and objectives.Provides input as necessary for completing annual budgets.Approves campus monthly schedule.Leads campus annual physical inventory.Fosters positive working relationships across departments and campuses with patients, physicians, families, visitors, co-workers, and vendors.Complies with all applicable regulations, standards, and recommendations.Follows hospital and departmental safety instructions, policies, and procedures.Attends 75% of staff and leadership meetings/communication and job-related educational opportunities.Manages the day-to-day operations of the staff, including but not limited to, work assignments, task management, time tracking/management, and on-the-job training.Takes an active role in coaching and mentoring the team to ensure continued employee growth and success, both on the team and at the broader CHOA organization.Assists manager with employee performance evaluations and hiring decisions.Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants and employees without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, citizenship, age, veteran status, disability or any other characteristic covered by applicable law.
