The Advanced Materials and Microsystems Group combines chemistry, biology, materials science, electronics, optics, photonics, microfluidics, nanofabrication, and advanced textiles to develop new technologies for a range of applications. You will join a team of people whose combined expertise ranges from system analysis to circuit design to microfabrication to polymer chemistry, and work in state-of-the-art laboratories, including a 90 nm CMOS fabrication facility and an advanced functional fiber drawing facility.
Job Description
The successful candidate will have demonstrated underlying skills in at least one of the fundamental disciplines, have experience in advanced modeling and simulation, and be enthusiastic and able to learn the specialized skills needed to develop novel microsystems and materials. They will have demonstrated ability to work with and communicate well with multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, and technicians, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
PhD in material science, chemistry, physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field Demonstrated expertise with theoretical modeling of materials and material properties with tools such as quantum chemistry calculations and machine-learning algorithms
Preferred:
Experience with physical systems that involve electrochemistry, flow dynamics, phase-change, high temperature degradation, transport, and/or high-strength Experience with MATLAB, Python, C, C++, COMSOL, and compact models.
