Overview St. Catherine of Siena Hospital, affiliated with Catholic Health, is located in Smithtown, NY on a beautiful 110-acre campus that includes a 290-bed community hospital, a 240-bed nursing and rehabilitation facility, and a 60,000 sq. ft. medical office building. SCS is engaged with error reduction initiatives and on a journey to High Reliability. We have been recognized in superior care in stroke and sepsis patients, have also recently attained Center of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery, and have been designated as the only Baby Friendly hospital in Suffolk County. Job Details Responsibilities and Job Duties Locates missing items and replenishes stock Maintains adequate amounts of sterile and unsterile supplies on Nursing units at all times Checks supplies for expiration dates rotates stick and discards as indicated Ensures that adequate levels of supplies exist by placing just in time orders to established PAR levels Utilizes MMIS to PAR/pick and deliver supplies. Maintains a rolling inventory of supplies and equipment by checking invoices, purchases orders, packing slips against receipt of inventory Consistently updates inventory when receiving and issuing supplies and releases all orders Monitors usage of supplies Ensure that all orders are confirmed with a written purchase order and/ or electronic data Secures needed supplies, including picking up supplies at other locales, if necessary Promptly notifies appropriate care center when special orders arrive Records discrepancies or damages in shipment and provides for exchange or adjustment in order Properly organizes storage of supplies and equipment Tracks vendors for quality and follows up to track missing supplies Maintains a well –organized, neat supply area Clean shelves and work areas Maintains cleanliness of storeroom Maintains equipment in good working order Provides services that reflect an understanding of individual cultural and Religious diversities and needs as well as recognition of patients’ rights Creates and maintains an atmosphere of courtesy and respect toward patients, families, and staff Provides an atmosphere which is customer driven and customer focused Has a working knowledge of Hazardous materials and Hazardous materials spill clean up Is knowledgeable of and exemplifies the Beliefs, Mission and Vision of St Catherine’s Hospital and Catholic Health. Maintains a safe working environment by following Safety and Infection Prevention guidelines and adopts to changing work practices. Position demands standing on feet for long periods of time while supplying care centers with supplies and equipment. Must be able to bend, stretch, reach for, and lift heavy items of 80 lbs. and unload pallets with supplies weighing more than 50 lbs. on a daily basis. Manual dexterity to handle supplies and equipment required, and have the ability to safely work a pallet jack throughout the hospital to deliver supplies and remove empty pallets. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with care team members, facilitators, suppliers, vendors. Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalency Must be well organized and knowledgeable in systems supporting material supply. Must attain 85% or more on math and reading comprehension tests Willingness to attend educational courses to increase knowledge in area of inventory control and budgeting Ability to deal with physical and emotional stress Must have valid N.Y.S. driver's license Experience in inventory control and materials handling preferred SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be computer literate. Salary Range Starting from USD $25.65/Hr. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job, and does not include the value of benefits.
