**Job Description:**
MTS creates machines to test and develop the world’s newest materials - from high strength metal alloys to
composites, and the components that are made from them. Our customers develop these materials to be used in
extreme environmental applications requiring unique test conditions such as very high or cryogenic temperatures.
This Mechanical Engineering position is focused on the design and development of new and current products built
to test and characterize materials/systems as well as simulate unique applications (E.g. wear/fatigue of prosthetics)

**Major Areas of Accountability**
• Gather and review design requirements to ensure alignment with overall system goals, and coordinate with
other engineering disciplines to create cohesive solutions.
• Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts, with a focus on documenting key
learnings and enhancements.
• Guide drafting and design resources to ensure clear documentation for manufacturing and testing processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, using engineering principles and tools like Finite Element
Analysis (FEA) and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to design and enhance components and systems.
• Work closely with vendors to manage specifications, timelines, and budgets for successful project
completion.
• Support the sales team by providing design insights and technical expertise during the quoting process.
• Engage with manufacturing teams, system assembly, and checkout operations to ensure smooth project
execution.
**Minimum Job Requirements**
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 0-3 years of professional engineering experience.
• Knowledge of heat transfer, materials science, machine design, structural mechanics, and vibrations.
• Strong in analytical thinking and employing a ground-up, fundamental physics approach to problem
solving
• Experience with SolidWorks, Pro E or similar CAD systems.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Expected travel averaging less than 10%, domestic and international.
**Preferred Qualifications**
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on heat transfer or materials science.
• Experience with products or components operating at or above 1000 °C
• Knowledge in applying Finite Element Analysis (FEA), vibration analysis and simulation tools (ANSYS,
MATLAB, MathCAD).
**Compensation Information:**
The pay for this position ranges from $80,000-100,000 based on education and experience.
