**A Snapshot of Your Day** **Perform materials / metallurgical testing and support R&D materials engineering projects and suppliers while maintaining Siemens Energy Zero Harm culture** **How You’ll Make an Impac** **t** **The primarily focus of this position is on the evaluation of materials in new and service run GT components. Typical responsibilities include,** **Major Responsibilities:** + **Provide high quality metallurgical lab support relating to all aspects of combustion turbine components and materials evaluation with the ability to perform independent metallographic preparation and examination** + **Lab procedure (SOP) preparation and maintain lab supplies. Maintain lab equipment and calibration. Prepare lab reports, as necessary.** + **Investigation of Siemens service component condition through visual and non-visual methods.** + **Characterization of material systems for high performance applications (superalloys, high temperature metallic and ceramic coatings, intermetallic, stainless steel)** + **Support engineering efforts in failure analysis activities** + **Communication with internal and external customers as well as adhering to Siemens Energy Zero Harm principal is embedded in day-to-day responsibilities** **What You Bring** + **High school diploma, higher education is a plus with a minimum 10 years’ related experience in a materials lab environment and performing metallurgical testing including but not limited to metallographic preparation and optical microscopy as well as hardness testing is a must, and expertise to perform SEM-EDS.** + **Fracture surface characterization is a plus with hands-on microstructural characterization (optical, SEM, EDS, etc.) and knowledge of heat treatment vacuum furnace operation** + **Work experience in a manufacturing / lab environment is preferred.** + **Understanding of Gas Turbine coatings is preferred.** + **Ability to work in a team environment, as required.** + **Demonstrated ability to develop and convey thoughts clearly & concisely through both oral & written communication with people throughout the Service & Manufacturing environment.** **Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
