Maternal Fetal Medicine - Emerging Researcher/Educator
The Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Virginia is seeking applications for an outstanding academic physician who has demonstrated emerging skills in research and/or education. This tenure eligible position is open rank at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will have demonstrated initiative and progress in the areas of obstetrics-based research and/or advancing educational methods of trainees. In addition, the successful candidate will provide excellent clinical care, participate in ongoing research in obstetrics and women’s health, and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows. Our division is currently comprised of 7 physicians, 3 Genetic Counselors, and a Perinatal Nurse Navigator. We have 8 dedicated core sonographers, who perform advanced obstetric ultrasound across our main Fetal Care Center and regional outreach locations. Our clinical research team is comprised of a research administrator, research coordinator, and access to a central Clinical Trials Unit for additional pre/post award support. Division members provide the full breadth of care in high-risk obstetrics including inpatient and outpatient care, ultrasound-guided fetal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, remote fetal ultrasound reads, and subspecialty consultations. The Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine oversees the Fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine as well as actively participates in the Residency Program in OB/GYN. UVA Medical Center supports a Level IV NICU comprised of >60 beds where newborns are cared for by 12 full-time neonatologists, full range pediatric subspecialty resources, and a local Ronald McDonald House for family support. UVA Children's Hospital is ranked in US News and World Report 2024 - 2025 as Best Children's Hospital. The Medical Center is a 735-bed, level 1 trauma center that serves as the primary, specialty, and sub-specialty hospital for central Virginia for both adult and pediatric care.
