Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer I/II/III - Ob/Gyn MFM

The Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer (ARDMS) working in our Ob/Gyn MFM clinic will be responsible for scanning routine and comprehensive MFM ultrasounds utilizing high-definition ultrasound technology for the purpose of detection of fetal anomalies and prevention of adverse outcomes related to fetal complications and maternal disease under the supervision of the MFM Sonographer.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Performs high-level, detailed obstetrical ultrasounds on high-risk patients at multiple clinical sites.  Comprehensive Anatomical Surveys, Fetal Pulsed and Color Doppler Studies to access suspected fetal anomalies, fetal growth restriction, placental complications, complications related to multiples. Biophysical Profile Testing, Fetal Growth Survey, Nuchal Translucency Measurements, First Trimester Scans, Transvaginal Ultrasound to assess cervical and placental complications. Utilizes a variety of ultrasound imaging techniques (Transabdominal, Transvaginal, 3D/4D, Doppler) to evaluate fetal and uterine physiology. Provides ultrasound guidance for in-office procedures such as amniocentesis. High risk women include those at higher risk for fetal anomalies, congenital abnormalities, fetal growth restriction, stillbirth, premature birth, or other adverse pregnancy outcomes. Communicates ultrasound findings and provides a written report to the attending MFM Physician and appropriate individuals (OB residents, NPs, PA¿s, CNM) to aid in the diagnostic process under supervision. Obtains a detailed patient history to assess for maternal conditions and prior outcomes that may impact the current pregnancy and the need for further ultrasound surveillance. Performs Fetal Echocardiogram Screening on high-risk patients to screen for the presence of complex heart defects and rhythm anomalies that will be referred to Pediatric Cardiology for confirmation and treatment under supervision. Operates and maintains specialized Ultrasound and Trophon equipment. Maintains sterilization equipment logs.  Maintains a clean workspace and properly cleans/sterilizes equipment between each use. Performs basic maintenance on equipment to assure proper working conditions. Assists with ordering supplies. Participates in data collection for research studies for the OBGYN and MFM Departments. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

ARDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography required.(OBGYN) ARDMS or ARRT - Obstetrics and Gynecology within one (1) year of employment required.

Minimum Education:

Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) AMA-approved school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required.Associate's Degree required.
