Job Summary/Basic FunctionThe Department of Mathematical Science at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#107190) in Actuarial Science at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain an active research agenda in actuarial science and related fields. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses supporting the Actuarial Science and Statistics and the Computational and Data Science PhD program. Supervise undergraduate and graduate student research projects. Assist the Director of Actuarial Sciences with program and curriculum development. Mentor students, including international students, by providing academic and career guidance. Establish and maintain relationships with industry professionals to enhance the program’s visibility and opportunities for students. Participate in recruitment efforts and program assessment to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with industry standards. Required EducationA terminal degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
Other DesirablesApplicants with professional certification as a fellow or associate of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) or the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) will receive special consideration.
