Job Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The McKay Exit End Operator operates the mill saw. They also set-up and operate the robotic bundling system. These tasks are performed in compliance with safety policies and safe work practices and procedures along with OSHA safety guidelines.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates the mill saw. Sets-up and operates the robotic bundling system. Assist Mill Operator whenever necessary. Manipulates the sizing, shaping and turks heads to keep tubing within tolerance. Periodically measures and documents tube adherence to manufacturing standards (weld condition, bow, twist, length, and shape). Monitors condition of end cut, and changes saw blade when necessary. Ensures tube stenciled with correct information (size, gauge. ASTM specification, correct heat number, and company name) Works on exit end of mill during change over (sizing, shaping, turks heads, saw and robots) Daily cleans area around the exit end of the mill and the saw. Must have successfully completed OJT and JSA Training. Ability to cross train others for the position and be cross trained elsewhere as needed. Comply with policies and OSHA guidelines effecting machine operations, such as but not limited to: Lock Out ~ Tag Out. Preventive Maintenance is to be performed as necessary. Maintains a clean work area at all times. Submit detailed and accurate Work Orders for any equipment issues as occurrences happen that cannot be addressed by operator or team members. Attend all scheduled company & safety meetings. Follows and enforces company safety policies and safe work practices at all times. Demonstrates teamwork and cooperation with other employees and supervisors.
PHYSICAL AND WORK REQUIREMENTS:
Personal Protective Equipment required in all positions. Use of other tools and equipment may be required. Occasional overtime. Warehouse environment, uncontrolled climate year-round. Dusty and noisy work environment within OSHA guidelines. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
REQUIRED BACKGROUND, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERTISE:
Ability to read, interpret and use micrometers, feeler gauges and tape measure and other hand tools. Operation of equipment such as be not limited to: overhead crane, ground operated equipment and machinery. Basic computer and mathematics knowledge. Good verbal and written communication are a must. Self-motivated. Ability to maintain and document quality records. Safety orientation. Mechanical comprehension. Achievement orientation. Responsibility. Thoroughness / Detail Orientation. Teamwork.
