DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Georgia Meat Inspection Section (GMIS) Director, serve as the North Region Program Coordinator for the Federal-State Talmadge-Aiken Cooperative Agreement involving ALL Talmadge-Aiken meat and poultry establishments in Georgia. Represent the Meat Inspection Section in local, state, and national food safety conferences. This position is assigned to the following counties: Applicant must reside in Districts 1, 2, or 3 or be willing to relocate. ยท HALL ยท CLARKE ยท DAWSON ยท FULTON ยท GORDON ยท MADISON ยท MERIWETHER ยท MORGAN ยท PAULDING The selected candidate must currently reside in the listed counties or be willing to relocate to be considered for this position. The duties for this position include: + + Assists the Senior TA Coordinator as liaison between the USDA Atlanta District Office, GMIS, and all TA meat and poultry establishments in Georgia. + Assist the Senior TA Coordinator with USDA IT officials as the IT Coordinator for the GMIS TA Program. + Assists the Senior TA Coordinator with monitoring the Public Health Information System (PHIS) in TA plants, runs reports from PHIS for quality assurance purposes, and ensures plant profiles in PHIS remain up to date. + Assists the Senior TA Coordinator with attending scheduled meetings or conferences such as District and National Front-Line Supervisor meetings, workshops, and phone conferences which might impact the TA Program. + Make presentations as necessary. + Assists the Senior TA Coordinator with reviews of Federal establishments in the northern Districts for compliance with the TA agreement by correlating with District Supervisors and inspectors. + Assist the Statewide Training Officer with new employee onboarding, online job training, and presentations, and assist with scheduling USDA classroom training. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university AND two years of experience related to the area of assignment. OR one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Busi Support Analyst 1 (GSP130). Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provide the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to applicants, who, in addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications, possess knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas: + + Proven leadership qualities. + Ability to work closely with others, and effect positive changes as a contributing team member. + Skilled in conflict management and professional communication, both verbally and in writing. + Excellent reading comprehension and analytical ability. + Ability to effectively interact with industry and the general public. + Knowledge of sanitation and good manufacturing practices. + Understanding of federal and state laws relating to food safety, meat inspection, etc. + Completion of a bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university in Animal Science, Environmental Science, Biology, or a closely related field. + Computer skills include knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows applications. CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: If the selected candidate is not already EIAO trained, he or she must successfully complete USDA EIAO training at the first available opportunity. Additionally, if the selected candidate has not completed USDAโ€™s Surveillance, Investigation, and Enforcement Training (SIEMs), they must do so at the first available course offering. NOTE: The Georgia Department of Agriculture conducts background checks on all final candidates.
