Meat Scientist
We are looking for a **Meat Scientist** to join our R&D team in Chicago, Illinois to work on our Meat Snacks portfolio! As a Food Scientist for Meat Snacks, you are an essential contributor to product development and innovation for our Meat Snacks Food Design team. Reporting to the Senior Food Scientist for Meat Snacks, you will bring your culinary expertise and food-centric approach to enhance existing products and introduce new ones. With a curiosity for consumer preferences and food trends, you will work at our Innovation Tech Center in Downtown Chicago at the Merchandise Mart, creating innovations that enrich Conagra’s snacking portfolio. **What You'll Do:** + Develop new Meat Snack products from concept to commercialization. + Conduct plant trials and new product startups using pilot plant equipment under guidance. + Conceptualize and develop new product prototypes based on consumer demand. + Use online specification system. + Guide product cuttings, plant trials, and testing, and prepare results for review. **What You'll Bring:** + Bachelor's in Food Science, Meat Science, Animal Science, or related field. + 3+ years of relevant industry experience not inclusive of internships or co-ops. + Experience with meat product development. + Knowledge in food product design, formulation, process design, product scale-up, plant testing and commercialization. + Experience with ingredient functionality and cost savings projects. + Curiosity for consumer demand and innovations within the CPG and culinary space. **Physical Requirements:** + Work in and around cramped/confined spaces + Climb with stairs or ladders + Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic extended workdays to including loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions, food tasting and smells including all food allergens. + Use tools, equipment, and machinery. + May travel up to 30% of time. Must be able to travel independently and as a responsible Conagra representative, including driving a company or rental vehicle. We require applicants for this role to be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship either now or in the future. You will typically be in the office Monday - Thursday with some flexibility. Fridays are usually remote. Relocation assistance is available for this role.
