Firestone Polymers, LLC is headquartered in Akron, Ohio and manufactures polymers and synthetic rubber in our world-class ISO 9001:2000/14001 registered plants located in Lake Charles, Louisiana and Orange, Texas. Position SummaryMaintain and repair all assigned equipment in the plant in order to produce a finished product of expected quality and quantity. Includes equipment such as: pumps, compressors, blowers, driers, hydraulic equipment, conveyors, turbines, de-watering units, packaging equipment, etc. Must be able to troubleshoot problem areas in respect to equipment required to work on. Read blue prints and sketches, fabricate and install pump bases. Alignment of couplings on different equipment and rigging equipment for cranes to lift.
ResponsibilitiesEQUIPMENT AND TOOLS:
Hand Tools - Box end wrenches, open end wrenches, adjustable
wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators, hammers,
ratchets and sockets, heavy hammers, etc.
Power Tools - Air, electric and hydraulic operated, such as drills,
impacts, grinders, jacks, etc.
Hoisting Equipment -Hand and power operated, chain hoist, pull lifts, etc.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Exercise caution to follow all safety rules and regulations while working on any and all equipment assigned to repair or operate. Must be able to read and understand Job Safety Reviews. Must have mutual respect for the safety of fellow associates.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Lifting, standing long periods, carrying, climbing, kneeling, reaching, stooping, bending, pulling, good vision, good hearing, working in clustered areas and have strength in both hands and legs. Lifting of different types of equipment and tools from 10 – 50 lbs. approximately 50 % of the time. Capable of working in inclement weather such as heat or cold and rain. Also working from heights and inside vessels.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Prefer 5 years relative industrial outside mechanic/millwright experience, journeyman level
Good communication skills, ability to handle multiple assignments, good troubleshooting skills
Experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting a plus
Ability to work 12-hour rotating shift
On the Job Training:
Computer Based Learning (CBL’s), also off site training is provided when needed depending on job position and requirements.
COMMENTS:
Must have ability to follow plant and department procedures, have a good memory to retain knowledge of plant equipment, keep records, learn to use our computer for stores requisitions, must be able to work overtime when required.
Typically requires a high school degree; or 1-2 year vocational training / associates degree
