**Job Title: Mechanic** **Job Description** The Mechanic is responsible for the daily inspection, malfunctions, repairs, and rebuilding of lift equipment such as forklifts, terminal vehicles, and other equipment. The Mechanic reports directly to the M&R Manager. **Responsibilities** + Operate and complete daily inspections of forklifts, terminal vehicles, and other equipment. + Perform preventative maintenance per manufacturer’s recommendations on equipment to ensure that it is safe and in compliance with all federal and state regulations. + Ensure that services provided are in compliance with all safety procedures. + Analyze and diagnose any potential malfunctions, defects, damage, or excessive wear. + Repair or replace any malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical equipment and subassemblies. + Regularly test overhauled equipment to ensure that it is operating efficiently. + Dismantle and reassemble equipment using a variety of hoists, power, and hand tools. + Direct others who are engaged in cleaning and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment. + Review Operator’s Vehicle Condition Report before equipment is operated to ensure there are no deficiencies that need to be addressed. + Ensure accuracy while maintaining all equipment maintenance files and pre-vessel checklists. + Maintain a clean and organized work environment. + Wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as safety toe boots, protective hard hat, ear protection, and safety glasses, when applicable. **Essential Skills** + Preventative maintenance + Oil changes + Repairing trucks (Chevy), cars (Kia), and forklifts + Ability to obtain a TWIC card (will be reimbursed) + Diesel repair + Forklift repair **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience working on diesel trucks or forklifts preferred but not required. + Willingness to do miscellaneous tasks such as painting a container if needed. **Why Work Here?** We offer fully employer-funded health insurance, dental, and vision plans.
