Job Description

As a Mechanic, you will start each shift by reviewing a list of trailers categorized as green tagged (ready to go) or red tagged (requiring repairs). Green tagged trailers require a general checklist assessment, including verifying functioning lights and operational doors. Red tagged trailers need more extensive repairs, which may involve issues from tires to burnt out light bulbs. Your daily tasks will include repairing various trailer parts such as outer panels, side rails, inner panels, roof bows, cross members, floors, doors, hinges, plates, wheels, tire drums, ABS brakes, electrical systems, lift gates, hydraulics, and air bags. Additionally, you will perform stick welding, preventative maintenance, diagnose trailer issues, write reports, and fill out request forms for necessary parts. Each day, you will work on approximately 3-8 trailers.

ResponsibilitiesReview and categorize trailers as green tagged or red tagged at the start of each shift.Perform general checklist assessments on green tagged trailers, including verifying lights and doors.Conduct extensive repairs on red tagged trailers, addressing issues such as tires and burnt out light bulbs.Repair various trailer parts including outer panels, side rails, inner panels, roof bows, cross members, floors, doors, hinges, plates, wheels, tire drums, ABS brakes, electrical systems, lift gates, hydraulics, and air bags.Perform stick welding and preventative maintenance.Diagnose trailer issues and write detailed reports.Fill out request forms for necessary parts.Work on approximately 3-8 trailers each day.Essential SkillsTrailer mechanic experience - 3+ years.Ability to perform wire feed welding.Electrical for diagnosing and fixing brake lights and headlights.Proficiency in electrical wiring.Self-sufficiency and problem-solving skills.Strong report writing skills.Must own their own tools (e.g., 1/2\" and 3/8\" impact sockets).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00
