Description
JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to repair, troubleshoot, install, and maintain necessary agricultural equipment according to Mountain View Co-op (MVC) and industry standards for safety, and preventative and scheduled maintenance. The Mechanic must maintain a positive and cooperative attitude that promotes teamwork, integrity, honesty, and helpfulness. The Mechanic must embrace and exhibit MVC’s philosophy and culture of customer service.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the Agronomy Division Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Establish and maintain a positive customer service experience.
+ Establish and maintain a positive experience for MVC customers, clients, and vendors, through professional interpersonal interactions.
+ Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, and test and make adjustments.
+ Comply with all safety regulations.
+ Maintain and repair facilities, equipment, and tools in order to ensure operational readiness, safety, and cleanliness.
+ Observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions.
+ Conduct machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive vehicle maintenance service.
+ Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report any unusual situations to supervisor.
+ Perform mechanical repairs including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
+ Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
+ Adjust, repair, and service farm machinery and notify supervisor when machinery malfunctions.
+ Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
+ Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs.
+ Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment during machine service.
+ Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders.
+ Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
+ Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery.
+ Drive trucks to haul supplies or tools.
+ Report for duty in a fit condition, complying with the location dress code and acceptable personal hygiene.
+ Provide feedback to Managers.
+ Practice and encourage workplace safety.
+ Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge and understanding of:
+ Equipment operation and maintenance
+ Basic Math skills
+ DOT regulations
+ Safety rules, procedures, and practices
Ability to:
+ Establish effective working relationships with management, co-workers, and the general public.
+ Report to work on-time and as scheduled.
+ Operate various equipment for loading and unloading.
+ Operate front end loader and forklift.
+ Operate light and heavy equipment.
+ Operate a smartphone.
+ Read work orders or receive verbal instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
+ Communicate effectively with others in both technical and non-technical terms.
+ Drive year-round within the state of Montana.
+ Work varied shifts and days as required of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Experience:
+ High School diploma or GED
+ 2 years mechanic experience
+ Machinist experience
License/Certification:
+ Forklift Certification or ability to obtain is preferred
+ Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License issued by the State of Montana

Essential Physical Abilities:
+ Clarity of speech and hearing that permits the employee to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
+ Clarity of vision to include; near and far vision, ability to focus while operating equipment, and ability to read printed materials.
+ Manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate equipment, load and unload products, and move products.
+ Personal mobility that permits the employee to enter, operate, and exit motor vehicles.
+ Ability to lift 70 pounds.
+ Ability to walk, stand, and reach for the duration of the shift.
+ Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, climb, and navigate tough terrain.
Working Conditions:
+ Work is generally performed in outdoor and warehouse environments.
+ Duties are required in all weather conditions.
+ Must drive and sit for extended periods of time.
+ Various noise levels are present in the work environment, from low to moderately loud.
