ChristianaCare is looking for a full-time Mechanic Assistant to perform a variety of scheduled maintenance and service work to maintain various mechanical systems and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Completes scheduled maintenance on various building mechanical systems. Servicing work includes filter replacement, belt inspection, and replacement, cleaning of equipment components and lubrications (motors, fans, etc.) HVAC vent cleaning and refrigeration system maintenance.

Documents all repairs within Computerized Maintenance Management System.

Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

Create and maintain a welcoming environment for staff and visitors by demonstrating warmth and attentiveness by actively listening and addressing the needs of others, anticipating potential concerns, and going above and beyond to ensure a positive experience at our facilities.

Performs other related duties as required.

Hours: Day shift 7:30a - 4:00p M-F (other shifts as needed to support the department)

Education and Experience Requirements:High school graduate or equivalent.One year mechanical/HVAC experienceKnowledge, skill, and ability requirements:

Ability to learn proper procedures for tasks assigned and adapt what has been learned to new circumstances.

Ability to cope with variations in assignments.

Skill in operating all tools required to make necessary adjustments and repairs to keep equipment running.

Problem solving, mechanical and analytical skills.

Written and oral communication skills.

Ability to effectively organize work assignments.

Ability to utilize computers and mobile devices to fill out time logs and work orders.

Physical demands:

Bending, lifting, reaching, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working overhead and in cramped spaces.

Working conditions:

Exposure to oils, grease, hot surfaces, chemical fumes, soot, dust, dirt, extreme heat, cold, and noise. Exposure to burns, scalds, eye and ear hazards, and falls. Exposure to cramped and confined areas, and danger of infection. Exposure to open sewers
