Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Field Mechanic for the Metroplex area

Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricates and cleans parts. Starts devices to test their performance. Looks for maintenance issues that may need repairs. Performs preventive maintenance, operates drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. Repairs electrical equipment. Looks for maintenance issues needing repairs. Performs miscellaneous welding, cutting and fabrication as needed.

 

Competencies Able to properly use diagnostic equipment.

Education and/or Experience High School/GED or 5 years mechanical experience

 

Language Skills English (Fluent)/ Spanish (Basic)

 

Mathematical Skills N/A

 

Reasoning Ability Able to verify that equipment is safe

 

Computer Skills Diagnostic equipment proficiency

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Confined Space Training

 

Other Skills and Abilities Knowledge of vehicle and equipment operations
