MECHANIC/FUELER

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, vehicles, engines, and mechanical systems used by Adak Fuels (AF). Must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions. In addition to working on machinery, must also assist fueling staff with providing fuel services to vessels, aircraft, and the community as needed. This is a rotational two (2) weeks on / two (2) weeks off position with the flexibility to work longer shifts if necessary.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assemble, maintain, and repair machinery and vehicles on an as-needed basis. Build and assemble machines according to requirements. Troubleshoot engine performance problems, make recommendations for repair, and create estimates based on proper diagnosis. Conduct annual and routine maintenance on equipment. Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems. Clean and apply lubricant to machinery components as needed. Act as a support team member and back up to on-site Terminal Operators as needed. Follow terminal policies and procedures and pay special attention to all job scope specific health, environmental, and safety guidelines. Participate in fuel spill response training for water and land as required. Ensure the terminal and surrounding area is maintained in an orderly and compliant fashion. Ensure that all terminal operations are completed safely and in accordance with federal and state regulations. Perform other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to perform the essential functions in a safe and efficient manner. Ability to pass a hazmat physical. Ability to perform mechanical and preventative maintenance. Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instructions, manuals, blueprints, etc. Knowledge of the latest vehicle diagnostic equipment. Skill in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, etc.) Skill in using various hand tools and precision measurement tools. Strong interpersonal skills to interact in a team environment and foster positive relationships.HOUSING & TRANSPORTATION
Housing will be provided by AF, food and other necessities will be the employee’s responsibility. Round trip airfare will be provided from Anchorage to Adak, Alaska. Company vehicles will be provided while on location.REQUIRED TRAINING
40 Hour HAZWOPER training and 8 hour HAZWOPER Refresher each year. Pollution Prevention Training, Overview of Oil Spill Response, Oil Spill Response Tools and Tactics. Small Vessel Safety.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Five (5) years of progressive experience as a diesel mechanic or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. Must possess and maintain Alaska driver’s license.MINIMUM CERTIFICATIONS
Must possess and maintain Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge within 6 months of hire date. Must obtain the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within 6 months of hire date.BENEFITS
