The successful candidate will join our Fleet Services Group performing various ship repair, modernization and Alteration Installation Team (AIT) projects. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: + Assist in performing repairs, modifications and overhauls on various types of equipment and machinery common to maritime vessels and/or general industry. + Assist in performing operational tests on installed equipment and systems. + Apply knowledge of production and processes toward completion of assignments and understanding concerning the preparation and use of technical documents, work packages and test documents. + Able to perform operational tests on installed equipment and systems. + Familiar experience with troubleshooting techniques of machinery and equipment. + Report to and brief supervisor and management on task status. Required Experience: + Must possess a high school, trade or vocational school degree + 5-10 years of direct experience in ship repair and installation of Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) systems and equipment. + Ability to read and interpret ship installation drawings, installation specifications and NAVSEA Standard Items is preferred. + Must have or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance + Must have the ability to obtain base access and security credentials + Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. + Ability to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. + Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States. Preferred qualifications: + Certified in 'Multi-pin' Connectors IAW MIL-STD-20035A (SA) is a MUST. + Certified in Fiber Optic: CFOS/O, CFOS/C, CFOS/S, CFOS/T, CFOS/FC is a PLUS. + Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a marine electrician. + Must be familiar with NAVSEA Standard Item requirements. + Currently certified to accomplish wire way inspections in accordance with NAVSEA Standard Items. + Microsoft Office knowledge is a plus. + Pulling and splicing wires. + Circuit Labeling. + Circuiting testing and troubleshooting. Security Requirements: + Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance to access military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards, and Naval installations. + Due to export control regulations, this role is open to U.S. citizens only. Travel Requirements: + Occasional Travel- up t0 10% within and outside of the continental United States. + If a position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.
