Only local candidates will be considered. Veteran and retired candidates welcome! Job Overview: Continental Tide is seeking an experienced and skilled Mechanic. The successful candidate will join our Fleet Services Group performing various ship repair, modernization and Alteration Installation Team (AIT) projects. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: + Assist in performing repairs, modifications and overhauls on various types of equipment and machinery common to maritime vessels and/or general industry. + Assist in performing operational tests on installed equipment and systems. + Apply knowledge of production and processes toward completion of assignments and understanding concerning the preparation and use of technical documents, work packages and test documents. + Able to perform operational tests on installed equipment and systems. + Familiar experience with troubleshooting techniques of machinery and equipment. + Report to and brief supervisor and management on task status. Required Experience: + Must possess a high school, trade or vocational school degree + 5-10 years of direct experience in ship repair and installation of Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) systems and equipment. + Ability to read and interpret ship installation drawings, installation specifications and NAVSEA Standard Items is preferred. + Must have or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance + Must have the ability to obtain base access and security credentials + Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. + Ability to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. + Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States. Preferred qualifications: + Certified in 'Multi-pin' Connectors IAW MIL-STD-20035A (SA) is a MUST. + Certified in Fiber Optic: CFOS/O, CFOS/C, CFOS/S, CFOS/T, CFOS/FC is a PLUS. + Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a marine electrician. + Must be familiar with NAVSEA Standard Item requirements. + Currently certified to accomplish wire way inspections in accordance with NAVSEA Standard Items. + Microsoft Office knowledge is a plus. + Pulling and splicing wires. + Circuit Labeling. + Circuiting testing and troubleshooting. Security Requirements: + Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance to access military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards, and Naval installations. + Due to export control regulations, this role is open to U.S. citizens only. Travel Requirements: + Occasional Travel- up t0 10% within and outside of the continental United States. + If a position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.
