MECHANIC / MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Job Summary: Responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, engines, and mechanical systems on Adak Island. The position is also responsible for welcome guests and for the ongoing maintenance on the island for various locations, such as the Adak Island Inn. Must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions. This is a rotational two (2) weeks on / two (2) weeks off position with the flexibility to work longer shifts if necessary.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Embrace the mission of The Aleut Corporation (Aleut) and Aleut Enterprise, LLC (AE) including honesty, integrity, accountability, respect, and perseverance. Greet guests to the Adak Island Inn and provide room keys. Provide continued maintenance support to the Adak Island Inn to ensure housing units are functional and safe for hotel guests and workers. Perform general plumbing, electrical, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) repairs to the facility’s equipment and systems. Inspect equipment and systems to identify problems or issues. Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure that plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems continue operating properly. Maintain and repair vehicles on an as-needed basis. Build and assemble machines according to requirements. Troubleshoot engine performance problems, make recommendations for repair, and create estimates based on proper diagnosis, repair, or replace. Conduct annual and routine maintenance on equipment. Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems. Clean and apply lubricant to machinery components as needed. Follow policies and procedures all job scope specific health, environment, and safety guidelines. Perform other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to perform the essential functions in a safe and efficient manner. Ability to perform mechanical and preventative maintenance. Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instructions, blueprints etc. Knowledge of the latest vehicle diagnostic equipment. Skill in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Teams, etc.) Skill in using various hand tools and precision measurement tools. Strong interpersonal skills to interact in a team environment and foster positive relationships.HOUSING & TRANSPORTATION
Housing will be provided by AE, food and other necessities will be the employee’s responsibility. Round trip airfare will be provided from Anchorage to Adak, Alaska. Company vehicle will be provided while on location.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. At least two (2) years of related experience. Must possess and maintain Alaska drivers license.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Five (5) years of progressive experience as a diesel mechanic OR any combination of experience, education and training.MINIMUM CERTIFICATIONS
Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge within 6 months of hire date. Must obtain the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within 6 months of hire date.BENEFITS
