This vacancy is located at Louisiana State Police/Police Logistical Services and Fleet Operations Section.
The position may be filled as a probational or promotional opportunity.
This position is vital to the continued success of Fleet Operations. Duties will include: troubleshooting, testing and repairing electrical systems, diagnosing, overhauling, rebuilding and/or repairing heavy equipment or complex systems. It will entail performing electrical fabrication on specialized equipment, supervising mechanics, planning and directing all activities within the area of responsibility under the authority of the Equipment Superintendent and will review work orders status through LaGov ECC fleet management software to ensure all work is progressing.
No Civil Service test scoreis required in order to be considered for this vacancy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Four years of experience or training as a mechanic.

FUNCTION OF WORK:
To provide supervision, guidance, and logistical support in a mechanic repair shop.
LEVEL OF WORK:
Supervisor.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Direct from a Mechanic Supervisor B or other higher level personnel.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Direct over mechanics. May supervise other shop personnel.
LOCATION OF WORK:
May be used by all state agencies.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Mechanic 4 by the presence of direct supervisory responsibility.
Differs from Mechanic Supervisor B by the absence of responsibilities as defined by the SCS allocation criteria memo.

Assigns work to mechanics and other shop personnel.
