Mission of the Role: Experienced Mechanical technical project leader adept at leading strategic program management, who drives complex sub-projects – Mechanical, Optics, Display - throughout the program lifecycle, ensuring successful execution, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction. This role works with the larger team to surpass customer expectations in cost, quality, and delivery of sub-projects while meeting financial objectives. Lead specific Mechanical, Optics, and Display scope (sub-project) within a larger multidisciplinary project with a Program Management mindset having the responsibility to successfully deliver acting as the main Customer interface.

Project Planning and Coordination; Team Leadership and Collaboration; Technical Oversight and Risk Management; Customer and Stakeholder Management; Quality Assurance and Compliance; Budget and Cost Control; Delivery and Continuous Improvement.Key Performance Indicators:
Program Execution and Monitoring: Lead, monitor progress, and track internal and external milestones, to ensure timely delivery, cost optimization, & quality outcomes including process compliance. Provides Mechanical, Display, and Optics leadership to program teams promoting effective decision-making, leading a structured approach to problem-solving, and triggering preventive actions at the program level. Budget tracking.Customer Focus: Proactively building and maintaining strong relationships with Customers and Cross-Functional stakeholders as the primary contact along with Mechanical Engineering team for end-to-end program-related activities, using impactful communication across different functions. Be the primary contact for the Customer from a Program Management perspective.
Change Management: Overseeing/Monitoring/Tracking program changes and scope creep by effectively evaluating and communicating the impacts of changes on timelines, resources, and costs with all cross-functional stakeholders.
Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating program risks to minimize their impact on project timelines, budgets, and deliverables. Managing escalations (internal & external)
Innovation and Technology Adoption: Identifying and evaluating emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends to enhance program management effectiveness and efficiency
Key Year One Deliverables:
Technical Leadership: Lead the mechanical development of complex automotive components, with a specific focus on instrument clusters, domain controllers, displays, and infotainment products; Project Management: Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables for mechanical design activities, ensuring alignment with program goals and objectives; Customer Interaction: Serve as the primary customer interface, building strong relationships, addressing technical queries, and representing the company's technical expertise in discussions; Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (optical, electrical, software, and manufacturing) to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components; JIRA Management: Utilize JIRA to manage tasks, track progress, and ensure timely delivery of project milestones; Quality & Compliance: Ensure that all mechanical designs meet automotive industry standards and regulatory requirements; Problem-Solving: Proactively identify potential issues and risks, develop mitigation plans, and drive problem resolution.Qualification, Experience, and Skills
We are looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Project Manager to lead and drive the execution of the Mechanical, Optics, and Displays domains within BMW projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and experience managing automotive projects involving instrument clusters, domain controllers, displays, and infotainment systems. This role requires not just technical expertise but also the ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, including direct interaction with BMW.
Key qualifications and experience:
Experience: 5+ years of experience in project management within the automotive industry, particularly in the design and development of enclosures and displays/optics components for instrument clusters, infotainment systems, and domain controllers; Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes; Customer-Facing Experience: Proven experience in working directly with automotive OEMs, with strong communication and presentation skills; Language Skills: Fluency in English; proficiency in German is a significant plus; Software Skills: Experience with project management tools like JIRA, Confluence, or MS Project; Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive projects with full autonomy, and influence without direct authority; Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to project management; Travel: Willingness to travel as needed to customer sites and manufacturing locations.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with BMW projects or other premium automotive OEMs; Understanding of automotive industry standards (e.g., IATF 16949, VDA 6.3) and APQP processes; Previous experience with enclosures development, and optical and display technologies is a plus.Key Behaviors:
