Mechanical Assembler, Weekday

An Assembler is responsible for putting together components or parts to create finished products. They follow blueprints, work instructions, or diagrams to assemble products using various tools and equipment. Assemblers may work in manufacturing or production environments and may be required to perform quality checks and ensure that products meet specifications. They may also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area and reporting any issues or defects to supervisors. Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work as part of a team are important skills for an Assembler.

Essential Responsibilities.

Assemble Switchgear units as per blueprints and instructions. Repair identified discrepancies with Switchgear units. Promote a safety culture as well as attend all safety meetings. Ensures quality by following standard work instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality. Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized. Other duties as required.

Job Requirements 

Qualifications

Minimum education level of a High School Diploma is required. Minimum 0-3 years’ of experience in a manufacturing environment. Previous experience in Switchgear units is considered an asset. Ability to read a tape measure (including conversions from fraction to decimal and conversely from decimal to fraction and metric to imperial). Knowledge of machines and tools including their design, use, repair and maintenance. Basic working knowledge of MES (Manufacturing and Execution System). Safety training certificates are an asset for the position.

 

Working and Environmental Conditions 

 

  Working Conditions

Safety sensitive position in a temperature-controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities. Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) (i.e., safety shoes, hard hats, bump caps, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required. Must be able to work from all types of ladders (step ladders, "A" frame ladders, etc.)  Working at heights usually no higher than 20 feet in the air on an elevated structure using proper lift equipment and Fall Protection Equipment.

Physical Requirements

Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs or step ladders Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction  Continuous standing and walking Able to use upper extremities frequently, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently. Must be able to meet physical lifting demand up to 50lbs. Frequent use of hand tools and power tools
