Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Automation Engineer to assist in implementing a new product line and integrate it with existing systems. This role focuses on mechanical engineering with simple automation tasks in a high-voltage environment.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop mechanical automation systems for high-voltage environments, including automation components and control systems.Design enclosures and interlocks to meet OSHA Safety standards.Implement simple automation to connect electrical devices.Implement and maintain high-voltage safety protocols, including proper insulation, grounding, and protection for machinery and personnel.Work closely with electrical engineers to integrate mechanical systems with electrical components, ensuring compliance with safety standards and functional requirements.Conduct thorough risk assessments for high-voltage systems, identifying potential safety hazards and recommending corrective actions.Oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of automated systems in high-voltage environments to ensure safe and efficient operations.Ensure compliance with industry standards, including IEC, NEC, and OSHA regulations, as well as internal company policies related to high-voltage safety.Provide training to technicians and operators on high-voltage safety procedures and mechanical automation system operation.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the safety and efficiency of automation systems involving high-voltage electrical equipment.Essential SkillsProficiency in SolidWorks and other CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD).Strong experience in mechanical engineering and automation.Experience in enclosure design and fixture design.Knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems and safety standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, OSHA).Hands-on experience working with high-voltage machinery and automation systems.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, especially in safety-critical situations.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.Experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and robotics.Certification in Electrical Safety or High-Voltage Work (e.g., NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910).Familiarity with energy storage systems and high-voltage power supplies.Experience from a conveyor automation is a plus.Work Environment
This position is onsite daily during the 1st shift. The role involves working on a brand new product line involving inverters. Initially, tasks are manual, with a need to automate them. The work includes end line testing, enclosure design, and ensuring safety interlocks and high-voltage protection. The engineer will need to integrate into ongoing projects and provide immediate, actionable solutions.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
