Job Summary
Renew and repair any system pertaining to boilers, tanks and drums.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Position, align, and secure structural parts and related assemblies of pressure vessels, such as boilers, tanks and vats Inspect, patch, drill, chip, cut, tap, weld, bolt, rivet, screw, clip, caulk, clamp, flange, flue or bond component parts to assemble products Lay out, cut apart, build, or repair boilers, tanks, drums and fit up sheet iron or sheet steel work made of 16 gauge or heavier, including fronts and doors, gates and gate rigging, ash pans, front end netting and diaphragm work, engine tender steel underframe, pressed steel tender truck frames and locomotive cabs Build, repair, remove and apply steel cabs and running boards Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates and positions of parts on foundation Interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling and installing sheet metal products Select gauge and type of sheet metal, or nonmetallic material, according to product specifications Set up and operate fabricating machines, to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materials Remove and replace rivets and caulk seams to repair riveted shells and structures Assemble and install a variety of metal tubes Cut and shape defective parts, using oxy-acetylene torch Operate material handling equipment such as chain hoists and overhead hoists Operate electric and gas welding equipment Signal crane operator or attach rigging to lift parts to specified position Test assembled vessels and may be required to operate locomotives Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager

Pay Rate

Training Rate $30.78/hour Apprentice (1st 244 work days) - 75% of journeyman rate Apprentice (2nd 244 work days) - 80 % of journeyman rate Apprentice (3rd 244 work days) - 85% of journeyman rate Upon working 732 days the new hire IBB rate increased to 100% per the Apprentice Agreement  Full Journeyman Boilermaker (upon reporting to location) - $41.04/hour

Training
You will attend paid training, which could be out of town. CSX will pay for travel and lodging as required by collective bargaining agreement.

Minimum Qualifications

18 years of age or older High School Diploma/GED Valid Driver's License One year experience in interpreting schematics and diagrams One year of welding experience One year experience building/repairing boilers and/or tanks

Preferred Qualifications

Three years combined welding and boiler/tank repair experience Boilermaker

Physical Requirements

Heavy work, lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basis Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/crawl/balance/climb Demonstrate auditory and visual acuity and ability to recognize colors Determine condition and temps of various mech components by feel or touch when work blind
