About the job:
Kent is looking for a Mechanical Commissioning Lead to be based in Port Arthur, TX supporting a long-term LNG project. Skills and Responsibilities: Direct report to the Commissioning & Start-Up Lead for planning and execution management support.Directs and supervises the mechanical commissioning execution team in assigned plant areas ensuring full alignment and coordination with other discipline activities in the area.System Owner for all systems and sub systems within the Area associated with their discipline as detailed by the Commissioning & Start-Up Lead.Fully integrated with CMT, Start Up and Operations through all phases of the project to initial plant operation, ensuring a seamless handover to Operations and acceptance of the facilities.Instructs, supervises and provides technical direction to mechanical technician teams, vendors and specialist subcontractors/third party personnel in the area to deliver to Static & Dynamic Commissioning targets. Supports the other discipline Commissioning Leads on mechanical commissioning issues.Accountable for maintaining the mechanical commissioning teams performance, efficiency, productivity and delivery to schedule.Detailed work preparation including job packs, walk down for operation packs materials, tools plant and equipment.Work planning, resource planning and forecasting, including Level 5 planning development and support.Progress and productivity reporting against the system schedules and CSU performance metrics. Support maintenance of the Systems Completion Database and Planning interface for MC and Commissioning progress tracking, reporting certification, and quality purposes.Understanding of and works in accordance with Project design, standards and specifications, the Systems Completion Plan and Control Procedures.Ensures all test documentation, records, as-built and related Commissioning and Handover documentation is completed correctly and comprehensively (supported by TO/HO team ).Supervises up to 12 mechanical commissioning technicians / operatorsIdentify and manages mechanical discipline commissioning resource needs, tools , test equipment , plant, spares etc.Coordinates with the Mechanical /operation techs for scheduling, call out, direction and control of vendors or third party commissioning specialist.Liaise with the TO/HO team with the Handover of Commissioned Systems to Operations.Ensuring that equipment and systems are fully commissioned at and ready to operate in compliance with the SOP/PSSR requirements.Interface with Company Safety Advisor and Contractor Safety Officers to ensure a safe and environmentally sound job area.Responsible for Safety and Environmental controls for activities in all buildings, systems and zones within their areas of activity under CSU Care, Custody and Control (support from CSU HSE team).Assurance of required permitting, isolations, zero energy states and full compliance with CSU and Area Prime Safe Working practices, methods and processes including JSA’s / FLRA’s / Toolbox talks etc.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: College technical diploma and/or equivalent discipline/vocational mechanical qualification or 10+ years of relevant and transferable mechanical supervisory commissioning experience, preferably in an Oil and Gas Environment.Experience of refinery commissioning, start-up or operations.Good working knowledge of PSSR requirementsGood working knowledge of preparing and approving mechanical isolations to operational standardsGood working knowledge of Permitting requirements as area authority / area operator.In-depth knowledge of Project Completion standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria.Established track record in supervision of large teams through Mechanical Completion, Commissioning, Start Up and initial plant operations. Proven strong technical skills in mechanical discipline subject matter.Strong understanding of work planning, scheduling and tracking.Exposure to LNG practices, processes, and expectations with respect to Systems Completion, Preservation, Commissioning and Start Up operations.
Communication:Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as required to function effectively within a project team and to communicate with project management, contractors, and sub‑contractors.
