Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer Pay: $70-$80/hr Location: Onsite - Seattle, WA Placement Type: Managed Service Project Job Description Seeking broad, curious engineers to join our robotic manipulation team. We holistically design, build, and deliver end-to-end robotic systems. Our team is also responsible for core infrastructure and tools that serve as the backbone of our robotic applications, enabling roboticists, machine learning scientists, software engineers, and hardware engineers to collaborate and deploy systems in the field. As a Robotics Hardware Engineer, you will design, build, and test innovative systems and module designs such as robotic end of arm tools (grippers) for our robot FC solutions. Responsibilities + Work with an interdisciplinary team to improve and maintain existing product designs including specification, design, prototyping, validation, and testing. + Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality organizations as well as vendors to ensure a smooth production transition of design changes. + Write requirements and functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures. + Exhibit role model behaviors of thorough engineering analysis and cradle to grave ownership. + Mentor colleagues. + Collaborate with external vendors and integrators to deliver automation solutions at scale. Essential Skills + 7+ years of experience in engineering. + Experience in designing, building, and testing mechatronics or robotic systems. + Proficiency in SolidWorks. + Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures. + Experience in DfX and scale manufacturing. + Experience in mechanical design of subsystems and parts, including moving parts and DFM (Design for Manufacturing). + Strong full scope design experience from prototyping through testing and production. + Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent field with 5+ years of experience. + Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production. + Experience with project management of technical projects. + Experience with GD&T, sheet metal, and machine design. + Previous experience with conveyor design, injection molding, machine design, and stamped sheet metal. + Experience in creating drawings from scratch and uploading them into the vault system. Work Environment You will work in a collaborative environment that involves working with various teams, including Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality organizations. The role requires practical knowledge of fabrication, assembly, and rapid prototyping methods. The position will involve creating designs using existing parts from catalogs and moving parts experience is essential. The role also entails working with external vendors and integrators to deliver automation solutions at scale.
