HX5 is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at NASA Johnson Space Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Support a variety of NASA's space exploration activities with design, prototyping and testing. Create engineering models and drawings conforming to applicable standards. Perform dimensional tolerance analyses, including thermal effects and GD&T.

Education and Experience

BS in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering school. Ten to Fifteen years of experience in the field or in a related area.  Experience creating 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings. Experience analyzing assembly tolerances, including thermal effects and GD&T. Experience with common machine shop processes and rapid prototyping/3D-printing. Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.

Preferences

NASA or aerospace mechanical design experience. NASA flight hardware design experience. Mechanisms or robotics design experience. Mechanical design of space hardware, testing & delivery of space hardware. Creo CAD software and related extensions such as Cabling, Piping, Sheetmetal and Simulation.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position and offers a 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off).

Other Position Requirements:

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position. Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
