Your role and responsibilitiesJoin ABB’s fastest growing division as a Mechanical Design Engineer, designing customized low and medium voltage variable frequency drive solutions for some of the world’s most critical applications. From concept to completion, you’ll ensure compliance, optimize designs, and deliver quality, cost-effective solutions that meet customer requirements.The work model for the role is: Hybrid #LI-Hybrid You will be mainly accountable for:•\tTechnical Contribution & Leadership: Create mechanical engineering designs, including drawings and layouts, to meet customer specifications. Support design reviews, validate solutions, and adjust standard designs where necessary. Assist in communication with customers and the sales support team regarding specific project design assignments or meetings.•\tTask Management & Collaboration: Identify and prioritize customer requests to support project requirements. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide innovative solutions to customers' technical problems. You’ll work closely with a dynamic team of engineers to execute projects that meet industry standards while maintaining exceptional quality and reliability.•\tPlanning, Control, Processes and Tools: Follow work plans and cost estimates for mechanical design responsibilities, ensuring quality deliverables are on time and within budget. Adhere to ABB procedures, design methodology, and assist in developing new processes or tools to maximize quality and efficiency•\tCustomer Engagement & Supply Chain Management: Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of design assignments. Collaborate closely with other organizational functions, sourcing, and manufacturing teams, on diverse customer projects. Provide design-related evaluations of proposals for standard materials and equipment.
Qualifications for the role\tBachelor Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in an engineering role including executing multiple projects of scope and scale simultaneously is required.\tPreferred Experience Includes: Background and knowledge of variable frequency drives or power electronics packaging, Working knowledge of agency standards like UL, IEC, ANSI, etc., Experience with mechanical design tools such as PTC Creo, AutoCAD, Solid Edge, PLM experience in SAP and PTC Windchill, Experience in Sheetmetal design, busbar design, advanced assembly modelling.\tUp to 10% travel may be required, to visit other plants, suppliers, and authorized manufacturing centers.\tCandidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
