Job Description
The Mechanical Design Engineer reports directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and/or Chief Engineer and will be assigned to specific projects. The role requires working closely with the Project Manager to ensure that the job's budget and scope are maintained, as well as developing and maintaining the project's schedule. The Mechanical Design Engineer is fully responsible for the project's design and interfacing, ensuring that the engineering team provides clear and precise fabrication detail drawings and installation layouts based on the project scope, specifications, and estimates.
ResponsibilitiesWork alongside the Project Manager to ensure the job's budget and scope are maintained.Develop and maintain the project's schedule.Take full responsibility for the project's design and interfacing.Ensure the engineering team provides clear and precise fabrication detail drawings and installation layouts.Design mechanical equipment based on the project scope, specifications, and estimates or instruct the engineering team in such functions.Incorporate standards and specifications into drawings, including customer, local, state, and national codes and safety regulations.Collaborate effectively with electrical and controls requirements for the mechanical design.Communicate and collaborate with vendors and sub-contractors for the purchase and fabrication of mechanical components.Coordinate job tasks, schedules, and functions assigned to engineering staff working on the project.Conduct and document design and safety reviews associated with the project.Check drawings for thoroughness and accuracy, including self-checking one's own drawings.Present information and reports to the client.Essential SkillsMechanical Engineering Degree5+ years of machine design experience with InventorExcellent communication skillsAdditional Skills & QualificationsProject Management experience, preferably cradle to grave project managementMechanical and Manufacturing understandingExperience with Inventor DesignWork Environment
The work environment includes a nice facility with many engineers on-site possessing different levels of experience, providing a great opportunity to grow and learn with a team. The engineering team consists of about 20-25 people, with numbers fluctuating based on business needs. The dress code includes dress slacks and a polo in-house, and steel-toed boots, jeans, and a polo on-site.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00
