Job Description
We are currently seeking multiple Mechanical Design Engineers for an Automation Solutions provider in the Greater Columbus Area. This company specializes in custom automation and a variety of automation products for industries such as life sciences, food & beverage, transportation, consumer products, and energy. Due to a large influx of projects, these positions will initially be 3-month contracts with a high probability of extension or permanent placement. This position does not allow remote work.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop concepts and well-engineered mechanical designs for mechanisms used in automated assembly systems.Use SolidWorks to produce layout, assembly level, and detail drawings, bills of materials, and specifications.Participate in design schedule development, review, and post-project review meetings.Coordinate with other project team members to achieve consistency in designs meeting project goals.Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and related data to determine design factors in the development of industrial manufacturing equipment, processes, and products.Develop and apply sound construction concepts for cost-effective manufacturability, field interchangeability, tolerance management, maintainability, and functionality.Recognize and develop prototypes of high-risk mechanisms.Produce assembly drawings and detail drawings to meet project schedules while keeping designs simple and cost-effective.Update and revise drawings as required to meet functional requirements.Review vendor capability and advance order long lead-time material.Generate adjustment procedures and spare parts lists for each mechanism as needed.Provide technical support to manufacturing and assembly during the build phase.Maintain proficiency with industry standards, methods, and practices.Maintain proficiency with software and computer techniques used in mechanical design.Keep informed of new products and mechanical design construction techniques.Assist with the standardization of components and mechanisms.Essential Skills5+ years of experience in Automation Design.Proficiency in SolidWorks and other 3D CAD Software.Experience in automated equipment, turn-key equipment, or strong mechanical design.Additional Skills & QualificationsBS degree in Mechanical Engineering or an Engineering discipline, or a high level of experience compensating for the absence of a degree.Experience with Autodesk Inventor.Work Environment
Office environment. This is NOT a remote job. You will work in a collaborative setting with other project team members. The company offers a variety of projects, allowing you to grow and diversify your experience within different industries, providing stability even during industry downturns.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $48.00
