We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Mechanical and MEP group at our growing RTP office as a SME Mechanical Engineer. ResponsibilitiesPerform engineering design evaluations and lead project engineering design, specific to Mechanical and HVAC Engineering.Have thorough knowledge of the applicable Building, Mechanical, HVAC, and Plumbing Codes.Design mechanical systems, conduct energy modeling analysis, and ensure energy code compliance calculations.Prepare engineering analysis of projects, including preliminary design, budget analysis, calculations, life cycle costs, and equipment selection.Prepare drawings and layouts; proficient in Revit and/or AutoCAD.Prepare technical construction specifications.Coordinate with other disciplines both in-house and with outside consultants.Perform field observations as part of the construction quality assurance process.Essential Skills4 year Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited institution.Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred.High level of written and verbal communication skills.High attention to detail.Proficient computer skills in Revit and AutoCAD.Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel).Additional Skills & QualificationsB.S. in Mechanical Engineering.NC PE or ability to acquire NC PE quickly through reciprocity.8+ years of relevant experience.High technical ability and interest in technology, staying current in the field.Good ability to communicate and a self-starter.An interdisciplinary systems approach to engineering, enjoying drawing upon different disciplines.Experience with financial metrics and data analytics in understanding and deriving the best solutions.Experience in mechanical building systems and drawing sets in CAD or Revit.Familiarity with MEP work for buildings and comfort with NEC, NESC, IEEE standards and a willingness to learn more.Creative thinking and presenting ideas to the team, clients, and the world.Work Environment
The individual would need to work out of the RTP office for 3-6 months and then have more flexibility for remote work following the initial period. The role offers a path to leadership positions such as Department Manager or Technical Manager.
