MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER
Perform 3D product modeling and rendering utilizing knowledge of SolidWorks and mechanical systems and devices in order to develop machine control assembly components. Simulate product housing and bracketry using FEA and vibration analysis while utilizing knowledge of material properties and factor of safety to produce economical and safe mechanical assembly. Participate in cross-functional development teams and actively contribute to technical and engineering brainstorming and problem-solving efforts, such as conducting studies and tests using in-house test equipment and off-road machinery use knowledge to determine cost, feasibility and compatibility of materials and components. Develop and coordinate mechanical engineering systems, products and machine control designs for new and modified electrical/mechanical housing, brackets and cables used on earth moving machinery. Implement engineering change orders, obtain parts from vendors, as well as build, install and test prototype parts and assemblies using understanding of material selection and design techniques. Produce mechanical engineering design documents and drawings for different machine control products including wiring diagrams, detailed 2D and 3D representations and bill of materials, utilizing knowledge of AutoCAD. Create and follow a new design idea from Proof-of-Concept (PoC) to release by taking new ideas and creating several sketches, procuring parts, building prototypes, testing and carving out the ideas and then bringing final design concepts to manufacturing and release steps. Convert outdated drawings to an updated format and title blocks, making it easier for internal use and making sure drawings are up to current internal corporate and industry standards. Research machine components to fit certain requirements and match the requirements of use cases and machines, including updating existing designs and preparing redline and draft drawings for the ECR/ECO process and testing these designs and machine control solutions on company’s proprietary automated machinery as required. Leverage knowledge of systems and part numbers in conjunction with Arena Solutions and other Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools to efficiently and accurately search for products, manage bills of materials, and maintain existing product information and drawings. Perform reverse engineering on existing older products to analyze and update drawings and 3D models to fit modern standards. Improve mechanical designs, including ensuring good functionality and manufacturability to match existing products while also actively communicating with manufacturer.
