Job Type: Full-Time, Contract-to-Hire (6 months)
Schedule: 9/80, M-F 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM with some flexibility
Pay Rate: $81.11/hour

Role Summary:
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in Avionics Hardware to join our team in Wilsonville, OR. In this impactful role, you will collaborate with a team of engineers to analyze and redesign critical Head-Up Guidance Systems (HGS) cast aluminum chassis components. You will work in a regulated avionics environment, ensuring precision and quality while addressing vendor non-conformances and maintaining compliance with stringent design and drawing requirements. Your expertise will directly contribute to the development of innovative, high-performance systems in the aerospace industry.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Conduct technical analysis of complex cast aluminum components for avionics systems. Review aluminum casting measurement data and compare it to models and drawings to identify deviations. Perform mechanical design work, including tolerance analysis, to ensure form, fit, and function are not impacted. Work within a quality management system (QMS) to maintain regulatory compliance and high standards of engineering. Collaborate with the Project Engineer to coordinate assignments and activities. Review sub-tier supplier hardware for technical accuracy, ensuring alignment with engineering requirements. Lead and participate in team meetings, presenting project progress and status updates. Perform advanced GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) analysis per ASME Y14.5 to ensure design accuracy.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent STEM degree with relevant experience). Minimum of 6 years of experience in engineering design. Advanced proficiency in GD&T and mechanical drawing interpretation. Experience analyzing and working with tightly toleranced investment castings. Familiarity with quality-controlled environments and regulatory frameworks. Strong tolerance analysis skills and a keen attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in avionics or aerospace hardware design. Familiarity with the Head-Up Guidance Systems (HGS) components. Knowledge of vendor non-conformance management and corrective actions.

Pay Details: $81.11 per hour
