As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in translating conceptual designs into detailed machine and automation drawings, schematics and technical documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drafting and modeling, both 2D and 3D, using CREO software, with a passion for precision and accuracy. **Basic Qualifications:** + Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline. + 5+ years of relevant work experience. **Preferred Qualifications:** + 5+ years of experience designing standalone manufacturing equipment and automated manufacturing cells. + Ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy on multiple projects; + Design experience including PLC’s, conveyors, and robotics concepts; + Demonstrated written communication and presentation skills; + Ability to translate technical information to all audiences; + Applies engineering knowledge and experience to improve equipment and processes; + Technical Skills to include 3D modeling (CREO or AutoCAD); + MS Excel, MS Word; + Understanding of lean tools, principles, and methodology + Previous experience with SAP or equivalent ERP. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** + Translates conceptual designs into detailed machine and automation drawings, schematics and technical documentation + Design innovative, cost-effective, capable manufacturing tools, equipment, and fixtures + Identify issues and implement solutions related to the manufacturing process or equipment + Collaborate closely with Generac manufacturing sites to balance design intent with performance. + Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings. + Supports machine development roadmap (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs) + Acts as a resource to mentor and teach less experienced engineers. + Produce documentation related to proper equipment usage, maintenance, and technical procedures + Travel to other Generac facilities as necessary. **Physical Demands** : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
