Mechanical Design Engineer

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in translating conceptual designs into detailed machine and automation drawings, schematics and technical documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drafting and modeling, both 2D and 3D, using CREO software, with a passion for precision and accuracy. **Basic Qualifications:** + Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline. + 5+ years of relevant work experience. **Preferred Qualifications:** + 5+ years of experience designing standalone manufacturing equipment and automated manufacturing cells. + Ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy on multiple projects; + Design experience including PLC’s, conveyors, and robotics concepts; + Demonstrated written communication and presentation skills; + Ability to translate technical information to all audiences; + Applies engineering knowledge and experience to improve equipment and processes; + Technical Skills to include 3D modeling (CREO or AutoCAD); + MS Excel, MS Word; + Understanding of lean tools, principles, and methodology + Previous experience with SAP or equivalent ERP. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** + Translates conceptual designs into detailed machine and automation drawings, schematics and technical documentation + Design innovative, cost-effective, capable manufacturing tools, equipment, and fixtures + Identify issues and implement solutions related to the manufacturing process or equipment + Collaborate closely with Generac manufacturing sites to balance design intent with performance. + Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings. + Supports machine development roadmap (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs) + Acts as a resource to mentor and teach less experienced engineers. + Produce documentation related to proper equipment usage, maintenance, and technical procedures + Travel to other Generac facilities as necessary. **Physical Demands** : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
