We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a demonstrable ability to plan and execute engineering product development and design initiatives. The ideal candidate will generate innovative concepts and robust mechanical system designs while working in a multidisciplinary environment.
Responsibilities
+ Plan and execute engineering product development and design initiatives.
+ Generate innovative concepts and robust mechanical system designs.
+ Work with machined components and molded plastics or other soft polymers.
+ Generate prints and reports in accordance with standard quality management systems.
+ Ensure success on products from concept to commercialization.
+ Characterize, select, and assess material compatibility.
+ Manage all aspects of Configuration Management including the engineering change process, change control board, drawing formatting/release, part number creation, part revision sequence, and bills of materials.
+ Participate in material review board processes including documentation, control of nonconforming products, assessment, and disposition.
+ Design using 3D CAD software including AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
+ Manage large assembly-file management within CAD tools.
+ Utilize complex CAD surface modeling techniques.
+ Conduct mechanical systems analysis including component and assembly statics.
Essential Skills
+ 5-10 years of design engineering experience in developing high reliability medical, aerospace, or transportation products.
+ Extensive experience with tolerance stack up and manufacturability.
+ Hands-on experience with 3D CAD design including AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
+ Experience with machined components and molded plastics or other soft polymers.
+ Experience generating prints and reports in accordance with standard quality management systems.
+ Knowledge of mechanical systems analysis including component and assembly statics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
+ At least 3 years of design engineering experience.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
+ Experience with process improvement, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma.
+ Experience with tooling, mold design, and plastics injection molding.
Work Environment
The position is based in Rensselaer, NY and is fully onsite. Engineering works 1st shift from 7am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. It is a two-shift operation with a business casual dress code. The facility employs a team of 130 employees, including 20 consultants and 4 engineers, and houses 42 automated machines. The company is growing and plans to add a 100,000 sq ft facility in 2025. The work environment supports the medical device and pharmaceutical industries.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
- 401K Retirement Plan: Eligibility after one year of service. The enrollment period after one year of service is January 1st or July 1st. The match is a basic safe harbor match - 100% of the first 3%, 50% of the next 2% for a maximum match of 4%.
- Health & Dental Insurance: Covers a portion of the monthly premium with the balance through a pretax employee contribution each pay period. See the contribution worksheet for specific amounts. Eligibility: Insurance coverage begins the first of the month after 30 days of employment.
- Flexible Spending Account: Employees are eligible to contribute to their own individual FSA accounts, on the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment. If applicable, employees are eligible for the employer contribution on January 1st of the following calendar year.
- Paid Time Off: In 2025, you will receive 120 hours of PTO. PTO requests must be submitted in the time clock for your manager's approval.
