Using the principles and knowledge of mechanical structures, electronic systems, and the forces of motion, this person ensures quality and purpose in all materials. Responsibilities + Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for automated systems. + Develop testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs. + Perform engineering calculations to support design work. + Communicate designs in conceptual and finished states to customers. + Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using SolidWorks. + Collaborate with teams, and work with vendors and contractors. + Perform detailed documentation of pre and post build states of automated systems. + Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget. Essential Skills + Machine design + SolidWorks + Mechanical engineering + Mechanical design + Automation + Conveyor system + Conveyor control software + Conveying equipment + Hydraulics + Pneumatics + Hydrological modeling software + Cradle to grave + Conveyor design + Custom automation + Automated machinery + Automated machine design Additional Skills & Qualifications + 3+ years of industrial automation experience, BSME preferred. + Experience designing machines in 3D required (SolidWorks preferred). + Work in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics or related field is preferred. + Eagerness to get involved, creativity, and willingness to learn new technologies. + PLC, robotics, or other industrial automation experience. + Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles. + Use of quality inspection gauges and equipment, GD&T. Work Environment The work environment involves collaboration with teams, working with vendors and contractors, and utilizing SolidWorks for creating and reviewing technical drawings.
