Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Lead with exceptional leadership, organizational skills and project management experience to take our team to the next level at our Elliot Lake location.  

Key Job Responsibilities Utilize computer-aided design (SolidWorks) software to create 3D drawings and schematics of parts, assemblies and technical renderings. Create detailed drawings to capture, process, dimensions, inspection and other pertinent engineering information utilizing knowledge of engineering principles and applicable design standards and EHS regulations. Develop drawings from notes, sketches, existing drawings, design concepts, verbal instruction and/or engineering specifications. Document updates to designs and ensure that any changes are recorded and prepared in accordance with engineering change procedures. Providing continuous support to production team during the assembly phase of capital equipment builds. Qualifications/Requirements University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent 3 or more years with design of underground hard rock equipment. Fully competent with 3D CAD design, preferably SolidWorks. Experienced in weldment design and stress analysis. Good understanding of manufacturing processes (in particular welding and machining). Understanding of Bill of Materials and MRP systems/ ECO / NCR. Experienced with Microsoft office software and ERP systems. Experienced with project management methodologies and software. High-level of initiative with ability to work independently and as part of a broader team. Knowledgeable in fluid mechanics and electrics Additional Information Design, analyze and test mechanical components using SolidWorks CAD system and using FEA to verify mechanical components to make up capital equipment. Provide support during the assembly phase of capital equipment. Prepare shop drawing package for equipment (including SRF drawing and General Assembly drawing). Perform and generate drawing updates for new products and designs to address ECOs and NCRs.  Generate new part numbers for manufactured and purchased goods pertaining to new designs. Update Solidworks and EPDM with all new parts, (include properties required to build BOMs including: raw material information, vendor details, part number, description, etc.) Generate BOMs and include vendor costs on purchased items. Update and maintain raw material data sheet. Prepare proposal drawings and cost estimates as required to support sales. Provide technical support to service department to resolve design issues and commissioning issues. Complete design work as required and participate in testing of prototypes. Assist with technical specifications. Work with production and quality to test functionality of machine after build. Work with team to come up with simplified designs.  Must be able to perform with minimal or no supervision. Must be able to work under tight deadlines on detailed assignments.
