A Bohemia-based Engineering Consulting firm with a well-established history is looking for a Project Engineer to join their team. The Project Engineer will be responsible for the engineering design of HVAC systems, as well as the overall MEP engineering design, construction administration, and project management for a number of institutional clients. The role involves performing load calculations, site surveys, design reviews, preparation of detailed engineering drawings and schematics, as well as field inspections for MEP systems. The projects will primarily focus on government and institutional clients, with an emphasis on HVAC/MEP design. The Project Engineer will take ownership of projects from design through construction.
Responsibilities
+ Perform engineering design of HVAC systems.
+ Manage overall MEP engineering design and construction administration.
+ Conduct load calculations and site surveys.
+ Review designs and prepare detailed engineering drawings and schematics.
+ Perform field inspections for MEP systems.
+ Take ownership of projects from design to construction.
Essential Skills
+ 4+ years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering, specifically in HVAC or Plumbing projects.
+ 4+ years' experience in AutoCAD designing.
+ Proficient with building codes and guidelines such as NYS Energy Code, NYS Mechanical Code, NYS Building Code, and NFPA.
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with project estimating is a plus.
+ EIT (Engineer in Training) or PE (Professional Engineer) certification is a big plus but not required.
+ Proficient in report writing.
+ Familiarity with RFI (Request for Information) and change order processes.
Work Environment
The work will be primarily in the Bohemia office, with occasional site visits required, starting with once per week but potentially more depending on the project. When on site, the Project Engineer will conduct field survey work such as observing and assessing existing conditions, but there will be no testing or disassembly involved.
