Mechanical Design Specialist

Clover Leaf Solutions is looking for a Mechanical Design Specialist to join our team in support of work at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The ideal candidate will bring advanced design expertise, experience with CAD modeling and standards compliance, and a strong background in collaboration and leadership. This position requires an active Q clearance and a proven ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform mechanical computer-aided design (CAD), manufacturing, inspection, assembly, and testing. Check Creo models and drawings for form, fit, and function, conducting tolerance and stack analysis, and ensuring compliance with ASME Y14 standards. Lead reviews for design, manufacturing, assembly, and testing, ensuring adherence to NNSA, laboratory, and industry standards. Recommend and implement methods for improving product definition, producibility, and reducing product defects. Develop and interpret 3D CAD model standards and practices for the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). Ensure accurate configuration management workflows for authorization, review, release, and distribution of product definitions. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet requirements and design intent. Mentor and guide other designers and checkers in mechanical design and modeling techniques.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology or a related field from an accredited institution, and 8 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience with Creo 3D CAD software, PDMLink Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis software. Expertise in ASME Y14 standards, including Y14.5-2009 and Y14.41 MBD. Extensive knowledge of hardware fabrication, inspection, and assembly processes.

Desired Qualifications:

Significant experience in drafting/design work in weapons and non-weapons arenas. Experience developing and implementing organizational design and drafting standards. Proficiency in Creo, PDMLink, and best practices for model-based definition. ASME Y14 certification is highly desirable. Strong skills in mentoring, teamwork, and communication.

Proficiency in Creo 3D CAD software. Expertise in Model-Based Definition (MBD). Experience with PDMLink for product lifecycle management.
