Job Description
The Designer II provides guidance and executes the translation of ideas, rough sketches, and specifications from customers, sales personnel, and the engineering team to other team members. This role involves generating working plans used in the fabrication, assembly, and installation of company products.
ResponsibilitiesUse CAD software to design and create concept, assembly, and detail drawings illustrating complex product designs.Create accurate bills of materials.Prepare submittal and installation print drawing packages for customers.Provide support during the installation process for on-site crews, offering clarification and troubleshooting.Offer basic support to other departments as needed.Use problem-solving skills to help sales and engineering develop solutions to space and performance constraints.Apply industry standards in daily functions and perform quality control checks on all assembly drawings, detail drawings, and bills of material.Train and mentor junior designers.Support the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with the Quality System Manual and Quality Procedures.Calculate and create general manufacturing details, including blank views and beam details, specifying quantities, sizes, and dimensions of materials used in the fabrication process.Create packing lists for the shipping department to ensure all components for each job are shipped.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsAssociates Degree in Mechanical Design or related engineering field.Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical design.Experience with Inventor or Solidworks.Proficiency in 2D & 3D design.Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFM/DFA) and weldments.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with gauge steel, plated steel, sheet metal design, and fabrication.Familiarity with metal fabrication processes and equipment such as CNC lasers, punch presses, and bending.Experience with structural design, drafting, and 3D modeling using AutoCAD.Ability to work on unique and challenging projects in a variety of industries including Aerospace, Heavy Truck, Industrial Systems, Ovens/Heating, and Refinishing.Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is a plus.Experience with profit sharing and room for growth and advancement within the company.Work Environment
Global Finishing Solutions designs and fabricates large paint booths for multiple industries. This role supports the Design Engineering Team and will be part of the Industrial Systems group, with specific focus on Aerospace and Heavy Truck. The company has a diverse and steady client base, and a laid-back collaborative culture. Employees typically wear jeans and a polo. There are 330 employees in total, with 60 on the Engineering side. The company offers a flexible schedule and can facilitate a hybrid work schedule of up to two days per week after 3-6 months, depending on job proficiency.
