Mechanical Designer
Job Title: Mechanical Designer/Drafter Job Description The Mechanical Designer will support projects by utilizing CAD software to upgrade existing equipment, provide refurbished second-hand equipment, and refurbish equipment at customer sites. This role involves wearing many hats and gaining experience in various areas. Responsibilities + Utilize CAD or Solidworks to design and upgrade existing equipment. + Provide refurbished second-hand equipment and refurbish equipment at customer sites. + Measure parts using calipers and micrometers to recreate CAD drawings. + Draft materials such as steel, metal, and tubing. + Create fabrication drawings. + Reverse engineer parts received from customers to create accurate drawings. Essential Skills + Mechanical design experience. + Proficiency in CAD or Solidworks. + Knowledge of equipment parts, specifically filters if applicable. + Ability to measure parts using calipers and micrometers. + 5+ years of experience with AutoCAD. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Ability to draft materials such as steel, metal, and tubing. + Experience with creating fabrication drawings. + Ability to reverse engineer parts to create drawings. Work Environment This is a small company with only 8 employees, specializing in the manufacturing of industrial equipment. Client projects range from 6 months to 2 years for manufacturing and installation, with product sizes ranging from door frames to football fields. The position requires a high level of independence, as the owner, who is also the lone engineer, travels often.
