Mechanical Designer

Daikin Applied is seeking a level II or level III Mechanical Designer. The Mechanical Designer will use computer-based tools to design parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage a parts list. Designers will also originate, develop, or modify product designs from conception to finished manufacturing documentation assuring quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost has been considered. Location: Staunton, VA – Hybrid

 

What you will do:

Design parts and assemblies for HVAC equipment Create engineering documentation including SolidWorks, modeling, fabrication, and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation Work with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedules Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills. Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness Gain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin products Demonstrate an understanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logic Be part of and function in a team environment including cross-functional and inter-departmental teams

Minimum Qualifications:

Vocational or Technical Degree or Associate’s degree in Design/Drafting Level II - 2 years of related experience  Level III - 4 years of related experience  Proficient in SolidWorks Ability to travel up to 10% of the time Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

Sheet metal design and/or HVAC products

The typical hourly pay rate for a level II position ranges from $28.61 - $39.75 in Virginia. The typical hourly pay rate for a level III position ranges from $31.73 - $44.23 in Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade in which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
