Job Title: Mechanical Designer
Job Description

Work with Project Managers and Engineers to design processing plants that are safe, reliable, and meet or exceed customer demands. The goal is to become the main inventor designer for the team within the next year.

ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with Professional Engineers (P.E.s) and Project Managers to ensure the fabrication capabilities of engineering designs.Engage in minimal, but some, customer communication.Create layout drawings of complete items with sufficient detail for assemblies.Produce piece detail drawings for plates and structural steel.Generate assembly drawings complete with bill of materials, title block, dimensions, and weld symbols as per designer/engineer specifications.Check detail drawings for assemblies, both for own general arrangements and for others, as required.Maintain computer files on both hard drive and network drive.Plot drawings for check and release.Detail concrete foundation and anchor bolt layouts, and draw machine parts.Communicate with other departments regarding the timing and availability of items.Resolve problems and answer questions from other departments concerning drawings to reflect structures 'As Built'.Measure existing equipment for hole locations and physical dimensions.Essential SkillsDraftingProficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD3D ModelingLayout and design of conveyorsBuild and develop Bill of Materials (BOMs)Parts detailingStructural Steel experience - columns, beams, and platformsMechanical designDetailing and redlining2+ years of experience with Inventor or SolidWorksAbility to create assembly or detail drawingsEquipment design experienceAdditional Skills & QualificationsStructural steel experience is a huge plusParcel conveyor experience or cookie-cutter design background is generally not a great fitWork Environment

Candidates may have to visit installation shops. The team consists of 6 designers/drafters, 3 structural engineers, and 2 Project Managers. The drafter may frequently visit the fabrication shop to discuss blueprints with welders. The office environment is newly renovated, casual, and the team is friendly and pleasant. The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00
