Job Title: Mechanical Designer/Drafter Job Description This individual will be responsible for creating detailed drawings of material handling equipment, work areas, and material handling components based on current examples as well as design support for future initiatives. Drawings will require a high level of detail in both plan views as well as corresponding elevation views in certain cases. A successful candidate will be a self-starter and will be able to work with very little direction and create drawing sets that will satisfy the need to standardize workspaces and designs across a large network of fulfillment operations. Responsibilities + Create new CAD blocks of equipment/conveyor layouts for new installations. + Brainstorm how to correctly fit new equipment with existing equipment (connecting conveyor to conveyor). + Develop new concepts for future designs. + Assist in the creation of detailed drawings of material handling equipment and work areas. + Support design initiatives for future projects. Essential Skills + Minimum 3 years operating experience in CAD with the ability to work and manage layers & elevation plans. + 3+ years of experience in 3D software (Configura is the main design software but SolidWorks and Inventor are acceptable). + Minimum of an Associate Degree in Drafting and Design. + Minimum of 1 year experience drawing in a warehouse or fulfillment center environment preferred. + Basic knowledge of material handling and storage systems and mechanical aptitude of how machines fit together. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Conveyor design and layout experience. + Experience with AutoCAD 2D and 3D software programs (SolidWorks, Configura, Inventor). + Experience designing material handling systems/layouts with plan and elevation views. + Experience with BIM 360 for projects and Smartsheets. + Ability to work in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment. + Experience with assembly line design, large equipment design. + Familiarity with equipment layout, plant layout, material handling, layout design, conveyor system, line layout, equipment design. Work Environment Hybrid - 3 days in the office. Can sit in Bellevue, WA or Nashville, TN. This will be a very open-ended and 'gray' environment. Someone that is very task-driven and needs to be told exactly what to design will not be successful in this role. The CAD Technician will work with engineers to help draft and design plans for a large distribution center which includes additional current and future projects for that center. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $37.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
