Job Description

Our client located in Ajax, Ontario is seeking a Mechanical Designer.

 

This is a day shift position (100% onsite)
Pay rate: $65k and above (depending on the experience)

This is a permanent position
Start Date: ASAP

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mechanical design and detailing Robotic welding machines and tooling using Solid Works. Responsible for project design and detail from start to finish and checking procedure of the details and bill of material for each project. Ensure machine/tooling design follows the required design criteria. Design all tooling with attention to manufacturability and ease of assembly and disassembly. Follow all internal or customer Mechanical Design Standards and practices. Attend, if required, all project line up meetings and design review meetings held internally or at the customer’s facility. Interact with shop floor personnel to process ongoing changes or modifications. Adhere to schedules including all milestones and report any issues to your supervisor if it affects the timeline. As required, work extra hours to meet deadlines. Maintain a project folder, which contains the latest design criteria, schedules, minutes of meetings, component GD&T, notes, sketches or any other project related information. As required, support various functions within the Mechanical design group such as technical manuals, updates, project releases, shim maps etc. Lead the discussions for line-up meetings with the Controls group for your designs. RequirementsMinimum 5 years’ progressive experience in the automotive sector. Mechanical Engineering Technologist or Mechanical P. Eng. Designation preferred. Must have a solid background in Robot welding/ Automation sector. Ability to communicate effectively. Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly in the automotive welding sector. High level organizational skills. The ability to work effectively with all personnel in all functional areas of a manufacturing facility. The ability to work independently.
